Operations Manager (Site Leader) – Matadi

About the role

The Operations Manager will serve as the senior site leader for the Matadi operation, overseeing all aspects of production, logistics and warehousing. Reporting to the General Manager, the role combines operational excellence with strong leadership to ensure safe, efficient and profitable performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all site functions including milling, ship discharging, storage, logistics, maintenance, quality and workshop activities.
• Monitor performance against KPIs, develop action plans to close gaps and ensure cost‑effective production.
• Enforce governance frameworks, SOP compliance and robust internal controls such as inventory management and loss prevention.
• Build and develop a high‑performing management team, fostering accountability, psychological safety and cross‑cultural collaboration.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, eliminate legacy inefficiencies and optimise the cost structure while maintaining quality standards.
• Represent the company with authorities, port operators, rail partners and local administration, managing complex regulatory and political environments.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience with at least 12 years (144 months) of relevant operational leadership.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary teams in a manufacturing or logistics setting.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with expatriate and local staff.
