Operations Specialist – Emergency Ebola Response (6 months)

About the role

The Operations Specialist will provide strategic leadership and coordination of all operational functions for UNICEF’s Ebola response in Beni and Butembo, DRC. This six‑month temporary appointment ensures that supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT systems are agile and responsive to emergency needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT activities for the Ebola response.
• Ensure operational systems are risk‑informed, agile and aligned with the emergency response plan.
• Advise the Ebola Coordination team on efficient operational approaches, resource optimisation and governance.
• Support rapid deployment of supplies and personnel while maintaining wellbeing and safety.
• Promote value for money and strengthen operational governance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations management within humanitarian or emergency contexts.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills, with ability to work in insecure and complex environments.
• Understanding of supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT in emergency settings.
• Excellent communication and cultural sensitivity to engage diverse communities.
