Professional Civil Engineer

About the role

WSP is seeking a senior civil engineer to act as the technical authority for complex energy projects across Africa. You will provide strategic leadership, ensure technical excellence, and support global project delivery while championing safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee civil design strategies, standards and best practices for major energy projects.
• Provide expert technical review, assurance and approval of civil designs.
• Lead high‑risk technical decision‑making and problem‑solving.
• Advise clients and project teams on complex civil engineering challenges.
• Contribute to work‑winning, bid strategies and technical proposals.
• Mentor senior engineers and support succession planning.
• Ensure alignment with WSP’s safety, health, environmental and quality frameworks.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of civil engineering design and project delivery experience.
• Extensive experience on large‑scale energy, infrastructure or industrial projects.
• Professional registration with ECSA and recognised technical authority.
• Strong leadership, judgement and decision‑making capability.
• Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder management skills.
