Project Manager – Infrastructure

About the role

The Project Manager (Infrastructure) leads the delivery of physical and technical infrastructure projects that support sectors such as education, health, transport, irrigation and ports. Reporting to the Project Board, the role ensures that all outputs meet UNOPS performance standards and donor commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, complete and continuously update the project implementation plan, including milestones and baselines.
• Implement the approved plan, overseeing infrastructure design, design reviews and coordination with external suppliers.
• Embed sustainability, gender, social, environmental and economic considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor progress, control variances, manage changes and initiate corrective actions when needed.
• Ensure quality of work packages and deliverables complies with defined standards.
• Manage acceptance, delivery and hand‑over of work packages to beneficiaries.
• Identify, assess and advise on project risks, proposing mitigation measures to protect benefits.
• Prepare regular reports, maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with UNOPS financial and ethical rules.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.
• Strong ability to coordinate with donors, partners and beneficiaries.
• Excellent understanding of contractual obligations, performance standards and UN procurement rules.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive results within time, cost and quality tolerances.
• Familiarity with local regulations and international standards relevant to infrastructure development.
