Senior Adviser – WASH/IPC (P-5) – 6‑month Temporary Appointment

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Senior Adviser to lead the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This six‑month temporary appointment will be based in Bunia and will provide strategic, technical, and coordination expertise across affected provinces.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and policy dialogue for WASH/IPC interventions.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight of UNICEF’s WASH/IPC activities.
• Mobilise resources and coordinate inter‑agency efforts at national, provincial and health‑zone levels.
• Ensure alignment between UNICEF WASH/IPC priorities and the Ebola Incident Management System.
• Support government‑led coordination and capacity building for sustainable WASH/IPC services.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience (minimum 12 years) in WASH, IPC or related humanitarian health sectors.
• Proven senior leadership in complex emergency settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government authorities and multiple partners.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
