Senior Project Manager – Infrastructure

About the role

The Senior Project Manager (Infrastructure) leads the delivery of complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet time, cost, quality, and sustainability targets. This role works across sectors such as education, health, transportation, irrigation, and ports, coordinating with donors, partners, and beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute the project implementation plan, including milestones and design reviews.
• Embed social, gender, environmental, and economic sustainability considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee production of deliverables, monitor progress, control variances, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure quality of work packages complies with defined standards and manage supplier relationships for timely delivery.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; advise senior management and the Project Board on risk‑related decisions.
• Prepare and submit reports, maintain project documentation, and ensure compliance with UNOPS policies, local laws, and financial regulations.
• Facilitate formal handover of the project to the closure manager upon completion.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale infrastructure projects in multiple sectors.
• Strong ability to coordinate with international donors, partners, and beneficiaries.
• Excellent understanding of project governance, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Familiarity with UNOPS performance standards and financial rules.
