Senior Superintendent – Mine Planning

About the role

Kamoa Copper SA is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead mine planning activities for its large, near‑surface copper deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will provide best‑practice advice to ensure ore extraction is efficient, safe and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and coordinate best‑practice mine planning processes and governance structures.
• Develop and maintain policies, plans and schedules for optimal ore extraction.
• Manage contractors, service providers and internal engineering teams.
• Drive continuous improvement, problem solving and transformation initiatives.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert for mine planning across the operation.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships across functional lines.
• Supervise performance of direct reports and ensure cost‑effective delivery.
• Integrate HSEQ considerations into all planning activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering (master’s degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in mine planning.
• At least 10 years of underground mining experience.
• Minimum 8 years managing teams of mine planning, production, drill and blast engineers.
• Strong knowledge of DRC mining legislation and project management.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Deswik software.
• Understanding of rock engineering and ventilation principles.
• Geology and sampling knowledge.
• Competence in mine financial systems and related legislation.
• Advanced computer literacy, particularly MS Office.
