Senior Technical Advisor – Dump Engineering

About the role

The Senior Technical Advisor – Dump Engineering will provide high‑level technical expertise for the design, planning and optimisation of waste‑rock piles, ore stockpiles, haul roads and related mining infrastructure at Kamoto Copper Company’s operations in Kolwezi, DR Congo. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager – OP Planning, the incumbent will work closely with planning, geotechnical, operations and environment teams to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable solutions throughout the mine life.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise short‑, medium‑ and long‑term waste‑rock piles, ore stockpiles and haul‑road networks to support life‑of‑mine operations.
• Plan deposition sequences, monitor performance, reconcile volumes and coordinate with planning and operations to meet operational and budget targets.
• Define technical requirements for drainage and dewatering systems, including pumps, pipelines, sumps and hydraulic structures.
• Validate designs against geotechnical, environmental and operational standards; conduct field inspections and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering, geotechnical and operations teams.
• Develop, update and apply procedures, technical standards and best‑practice working methods.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mining infrastructure design, particularly waste‑rock and ore stockpile management.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical, environmental and safety compliance in a mining context.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Senior‑level expertise with a track record of delivering cost‑effective, reliable solutions.
