Vacuum Truck Operator

About the role

The Vacuum Truck Operator will work under the Team Manager to safely pump, vacuum and transport wastewater, toilet and kitchen waste from mining sites. The role is critical for maintaining environmental standards and supporting daily operations at Mutanda Mining’s Lualaba facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Vacuum and pump wastewater, toilet and kitchen waste using the vacuum truck.
• Load, transport and unload waste at authorized disposal sites following defined routes.
• Inspect, clean and maintain the truck, hoses, pumps, valves and tanks.
• Report any mechanical failures, operational anomalies or HSE concerns promptly.
• Communicate with supervisors and field teams and contribute to safety and environmental audits.
• Suggest improvements to enhance safety, efficiency and environmental compliance.

Required profile

• State diploma or equivalent in mechanics, electromechanics or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience operating a vacuum truck or similar equipment.
• Experience in a mining or industrial environment is an advantage.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and HSE/ISO 14001 training.

Required skills

• Operation of vacuum trucks.
• Use of suction and pumping systems.
• Basic mechanical maintenance of hoses, pumps, valves and tanks.
