Business Development Coordinator – Donor Relations (Goma, DRC)

About the role

The Business Development Coordinator will lead donor‑focused business development activities for the IRC’s programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Goma, the role involves regular travel to Kinshasa and close collaboration with senior leadership to secure new funding and maintain existing donor relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Update and align IRC DRC’s Resource Mobilisation Strategy with the overall Strategy Action Plan.
• Track and coordinate in‑country donor engagement, including scheduling meetings, preparing briefings and sharing meeting notes.
• Produce donor communication materials such as factsheets, concept notes and pitch decks.
• Identify, track and assess new business development opportunities, managing the go/no‑go decision process.
• Lead pre‑positioning activities for major opportunities, facilitating technical brainstorming, competitor and partner mapping, and design sessions.
• Research and disseminate information on funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral and institutional donors.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date information bank on community mapping, assessments and research findings for future proposals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in donor relations, business development or fundraising within a humanitarian or development context.
• Strong coordination and communication abilities, with experience supporting senior leadership.
• Willingness to travel up to 40 % of the time within the DRC.
• Fluency in English; French language skills are an asset.
