Business Development Manager – DRC

About the role

Tearfund is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead donor proposal development, reporting and compliance for its programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role sits on the Senior Management Team and works closely with both Tearfund and local partner staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all donor proposals, reporting and knowledge‑management systems across the country.
• Draft, edit and submit high‑quality proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with donor, Tearfund and national government requirements.
• Support donor field visits, audits and evaluations, and document beneficiary stories.
• Lead analysis of field experience to capture lessons learned and produce communications such as news and prayer letters.
• Manage a team responsible for donor scoping, business development, partner assessment, project design and compliance monitoring.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in development, humanitarian affairs, international relations or related field.
• Substantial experience in grant management, proposal development and donor reporting within an NGO.
• Proven track record of winning proposals for donors such as FCDO, USAID, EU or multilateral mechanisms.
• Experience in logframe development, Project Cycle Management and coordinating large‑scale proposal processes.
• Strong leadership experience managing people and teams.

Required skills

• Excellent written and verbal English and French.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, intermediate skills in Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to analyse and interpret data, strong problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
