Business Development Specialist I

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a Business Development Specialist I to support its program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specialist will help produce high‑quality funding proposals, document project learning, and create marketing and communication materials for internal and external audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and timely submission of donor proposals that meet technical, cost, and regulatory standards.
• Write non‑technical sections of proposals and participate in proposal review panels.
• Research new funding opportunities and assess CRS’s competitive position.
• Develop and maintain tools, guidelines, templates, and donor intelligence resources.
• Track proposal submissions, analyse outcomes, and share lessons learned.
• Prepare analytical reports on portfolio trends and growth for internal and external use.
• Assist in creating staff development materials such as training and distance‑learning resources.

Required profile

• Experience in proposal development and donor research.
• Strong written communication skills for non‑technical content.
• Ability to integrate inputs from staff and partners into coherent proposals.
• Analytical mindset for tracking and reporting on proposal performance.
