Chef de Mission – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

INTERSOS is seeking a Chef de Mission to lead its operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Goma, the incumbent will regularly travel to South‑Kivu, Ituri and Kinshasa to oversee programme delivery in a complex humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the implementation of INTERSOS programmes across the assigned provinces.
• Manage the SMT team, ensuring performance, safety and compliance with organisational standards.
• Maintain liaison with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and donor representatives.
• Prepare and submit regular operational reports to the Regional Director.
• Oversee budgeting, procurement and logistical arrangements for field missions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing humanitarian programmes in the DRC or similar contexts.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Willingness to work in insecure and remote locations.
