Commis Chef – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Maison Naya is seeking a motivated Commis Cuisine to join its culinary team in Kinshasa. This full‑time, on‑site position supports senior chefs with daily food preparation, basic cooking, and plating to uphold the restaurant’s high standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and manage mise en place for service.
• Assist with basic cooking tasks and plating according to recipes.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow hygiene and safety procedures.
• Help with inventory rotation, storage, and equipment cleaning.
• Collaborate closely with the culinary team to ensure timely and consistent service.

Required profile

• Strong basic culinary skills, including food preparation and cooking.
• Good knowledge of hygiene standards and food safety practices.
• Effective communication and ability to work well within a kitchen team.
• Commitment to learning, attention to detail, and reliability in a fast‑paced environment.
• Prior experience in a professional kitchen or culinary training is an asset; basic knowledge of French or local languages is beneficial.
