Critical Care Nurse – Ebola Response (DRC)

About the role

Iqarus is seeking an experienced Nurse to join its emergency health project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role involves providing high‑quality clinical care in a 24/7 medical facility that supports Ebola and other viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF) response efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high‑quality clinical care around the clock within the medical facility.
• Strictly follow infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, isolation procedures, and clinical management of suspected or confirmed Ebola cases.
• Perform continuous patient assessments and promptly recognize clinical deterioration.
• Escalate serious, highly contagious, or complex cases requiring parenteral treatment to the physician.
• Maintain rigorous inventory control of pharmacy and consumable stock, including controlled drug registers.
• Ensure proper functioning of ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment.
• Administer medication and intravenous infusions, and monitor vital signs for emergency intervention.
• Manage stock and resupply requests for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU/HDU).

Required profile

• Academic nursing qualification with current registration/license to practice.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in critical care (ICU/HDU).
• Demonstrated on‑the‑ground experience in Ebola response.
• Professional proficiency in at least one additional language (as required on site).
