Development Outreach & Communications Officer

About the role

The Development Outreach & Communications (DOC) Officer will support USAID’s Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Program Office in delivering high‑visibility outreach and communication activities. This short‑term consultancy focuses on informing both Congolese and international audiences about USAID’s development and humanitarian work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of priority U.S. Government initiatives under the Program Office portfolio.
• Develop and disseminate outreach materials using local and international media, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), podcasts, radio, and public events.
• Coordinate with Mission staff, implementing partners, host‑country government officials, and beneficiaries to ensure consistent messaging.
• Maintain knowledge‑management tools and produce regular communication reports for senior stakeholders.
• Support the planning and execution of public events that showcase USAID’s impact.

Required profile

• Short‑term consultant with experience in development communications and outreach.
• Familiarity with USAID programs, the DRC context, and multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Ability to work onsite in the DRC and adapt to a fast‑moving, results‑oriented setting.
