Director of the Conflict Sensitivity Hub

About the role

International Alert is seeking a senior leader to head its Conflict Sensitivity Hub within the Democratic Republic of Congo programme. The Director will drive strategic implementation, influence donors and key humanitarian, development and peace actors, and ensure conflict and gender sensitivity are embedded across all HDP policies in the DRC.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall strategic implementation of the Conflict Sensitivity Hub project.
• Engage high‑level donors and partners to promote transversal integration of conflict‑sensitive approaches.
• Coordinate a multi‑donor consortium, onboarding new donors and consortium members.
• Represent the DRC Hub in national and international forums, liaising closely with International Alert’s global Conflict Hub.
• Travel periodically to project sites in Goma, Bukavu, Bunia, Kalemie and Kananga.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic programme management and advocacy, preferably in complex, politically charged environments.
• Extensive experience managing large, multi‑partner projects in the DRC or similar contexts.
• Proven ability to work across cultures and with a wide range of conflict‑management, social cohesion and development actors.
• Strong organisational and results‑oriented mindset with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Fluency in spoken and written French.
