Finance Officer - NOA

About the role

The Finance Officer – NOA will support the World Food Programme’s financial and resource management activities across country programmes. You will ensure accurate reporting, budget monitoring, and cash management while contributing to the development of country‑specific financial plans aligned with regional strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of corporate finance strategies and major programmatic initiatives.
• Develop and align country‑specific financial plans with regional WFP policies.
• Report on financial status and project outcomes in line with corporate governance requirements.
• Monitor budgets, perform forecasting, and ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Execute bank reconciliations, disbursements, receivable clearance, cash management, and monthly financial closures.
• Provide administrative support, manage contracts, and oversee basic HR functions related to staff benefits and recruitment.
• Collate data for timely reporting to enable informed management decisions.
• Support risk assessments, internal controls, and audit readiness.
• Guide and supervise junior staff, acting as a point of referral for complex queries.
• Represent the unit at internal and external meetings with UN agencies, banks, and partners.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance, budgeting, and resource management, preferably in an international or humanitarian setting.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Good communication skills and proficiency in English.
