Head of Compliance and Risk

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on, analytical leader to head compliance and risk for our DRC market. You will build a best‑in‑class compliance framework, protect the company from regulatory risk, and support cross‑functional teams in a fast‑growing fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic direction of the compliance program in the DRC, advising leadership and the board.
• Maintain all compliance policies, procedures and risk controls, monitor regulatory frameworks (BCC, AML/CFT) and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports.
• Coordinate regulatory audits, inquiries and filings, and develop crisis‑management plans for non‑compliance incidents.
• Identify and evaluate operational risks, own local risk mapping and implement mitigation strategies across product, operations, finance and other domains.
• Support fraud investigations, escalate signals to regional teams and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Professional fluency in French and English.
• 7–10 years experience in compliance, risk management or regulatory affairs, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Economics, Risk or related field; advanced certifications (CAMS, ICA) a plus.
• Proven success leading compliance for a regulated financial services or fintech company in the DRC, with extensive experience engaging with the Central Bank (BCC).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mobile‑money, e‑money and digital financial services regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with AML, CFT, KYC processes and regulatory reporting.
