Information Systems Assistant – UN Volunteer (DRC)

About the role

MONUSCO is seeking two International UN Volunteer Specialists to support mission‑critical information and communication systems in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. One position focuses on radio communications in Beni, the other on enterprise videoconferencing in Kinshasa.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot VHF, UHF, HF radio systems, TETRA networks and Iridium Push‑to‑Talk solutions for field operations (Beni).
• Install, program and test radio repeaters, antennas and RF infrastructure to ensure reliable coverage.
• Manage Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms and Cisco Webex platforms, including audiovisual equipment and digital signal processing for executive meetings and hybrid events (Kinshasa).
• Provide on‑site support for emergency communications deployments and high‑level conferences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, ICT, Information Technology or a related field.
• Fluent English; French is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Flexibility to work in demanding and occasionally austere field environments.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with VHF/UHF/HF radio systems, TETRA, Iridium PTT.
• Radio installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and RF testing.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and related audiovisual technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting across network and AV environments.
