IPC Focal Point – Ebola Treatment Center

About the role

The IPC Focal Point will ensure strict compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures throughout the Ebola Treatment Centre (ETC) in Butembo. Reporting to senior management, the role supervises staff, monitors PPE use, manages waste flows and guarantees adequate stock of hygiene supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce all ETC IPC standard operating procedures and investigate any breaches or exposure incidents.
• Supervise correct donning and doffing of PPE for doctors, nurses, cleaners, laboratory and support staff.
• Monitor patient, staff, visitor and waste flows to maintain separation of high‑risk and low‑risk zones.
• Oversee cleaning, disinfection, chlorine preparation and environmental decontamination, including crèche and caregiver areas.
• Track daily consumption of PPE, chlorine, disinfectants and hygiene products, coordinating with logistics to avoid stock‑outs.
• Deliver IPC induction and refresher training, participate in drills and produce regular compliance and stock reports.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a strong knowledge of Ebola IPC procedures.
• One year of overseas relief experience in the health sector is desirable.
• Training in IPC and/or Ebola outbreak response preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and enforce standards across diverse staff groups.
