Manager – Capital Control

About the role

The Manager – Capital Control will own KCC's capital portfolio from business case development through post‑investment review, ensuring every dollar is justified, authorized, and accounted for. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this senior position provides a single point of accountability for capital across the site and Group.

Key responsibilities

• Support project teams in preparing capital submissions, challenge assumptions, and ensure consistent economic evaluation (NPV, IRR, payback).
• Run the capital approval process, maintain the capital register, and guarantee no commitments without valid authorization.
• Track commitments and spending, maintain cost‑to‑complete forecasts, and report variances with recommended actions.
• Oversee timely capitalization of assets under construction, apply correct componentisation, useful lives, and residual values per IAS 16.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly capital reports, provide inputs to budgets, forecasts, and Life‑of‑Asset plans.
• Lead, develop, and coach the fixed‑assets and capital control team, set objectives, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• At least 10 years post‑qualification experience, including 3 years leading a finance team.
• Capital or project finance experience in mining, resources or heavy industry; experience in a multinational reporting environment.

Required skills

• Strong IFRS knowledge, especially IAS 16 and IAS 36.
• Investment evaluation techniques: discounted cash flow, sensitivity and option analysis.
• ERP fixed‑asset and project accounting modules.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
