Médecin IPC – Réponse à l’épidémie d’Ebola

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Physician to support the emergency response to the 17th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will be based in the field and will focus on protecting patients, health‑care workers and communities from the spread of Ebola virus disease.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of IPC measures in health facilities affected by the outbreak.
• Provide technical guidance on the safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination procedures.
• Train and mentor local health‑care staff on IPC protocols and Ebola case management.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and other partners to ensure alignment with national response strategies.
• Collect and analyse data on infection rates to inform continuous improvement of IPC practices.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with valid licensing.
• Demonstrated experience in infection prevention and control, preferably in outbreak or humanitarian settings.
• Experience working with Ebola virus disease or other high‑risk infectious diseases.
• Fluency in French; English proficiency is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IPC standards and guidelines (e.g., WHO, CDC).
• Proficiency in PPE donning and doffing procedures.
• Ability to conduct training sessions and supervise field teams.
• Data collection and basic analysis for IPC monitoring.
