Medical Officer (NOC) – Field Office

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a qualified Medical Officer (NOC) to support its humanitarian operations in the Bunia Field Office, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role will contribute to the delivery of health services for vulnerable populations affected by conflict and food insecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical care and medical supervision to internally displaced persons and host families.
• Coordinate health interventions, including nutrition screening, disease surveillance, and emergency response.
• Ensure compliance with WFP medical standards and UN humanitarian guidelines.
• Collaborate with logistics, finance and administration teams to facilitate the procurement and distribution of medical supplies.
• Support capacity‑building activities for local health workers and community volunteers.

Required profile

• Medical degree with valid license to practice in the DRC or recognized equivalent.
• Experience working in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of public health, nutrition and emergency medicine.
• Ability to work in remote, insecure environments and adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
