Movement Operations Assistant (Field Support)

About the role

The Movement Operations Assistant provides field support for migration operations, ensuring safe and orderly travel for migrants and refugees at airports, transit centers, and other facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform airport services including custodial care of travel documents, identity verification, assistance with check‑in, luggage handling, immigration procedures, and escorting individuals to transportation.
• Assist individuals at transit centers and third‑party facilities with sign‑in, orientation, distribution of food and non‑food items, room assignments, and support during stay and departure.
• Enter and update data in relevant systems, report issues promptly, and ensure the safety and comfort of vulnerable persons.
• Coordinate transportation from consolidation points, liaising with service providers, verifying identities, and providing briefings.
• Provide selection mission support, exit permit assistance, and interpretation services as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of paperwork, uphold IOM standards of conduct, and report non‑compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least 4 years of work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in movement operations or transportation is strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.

Required skills

• Computer/software literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Attention to detail, organizational capability, and self‑motivation.
