Fixed Wing Chief Pilot

About the role

Starlite Aviation Group is seeking an experienced Fixed‑Wing Chief Pilot to lead its Africa operations. Reporting to the Flight Ops Manager, the Chief Pilot will ensure the highest standards of aviation safety across all fixed‑wing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enforce all flying standards and operational procedures.
• Oversee pilot recruitment, scheduling, qualification, and performance monitoring.
• Manage documentation, manuals, and the appointment of key operational positions.
• Coordinate effectively with inter‑company departments and represent the flight department in senior meetings.

Required profile

• More than 5 years of commercial flight operations experience, preferably in a senior pilot or training role.
• Strong leadership, decision‑making and conflict‑management abilities with a calm, professional demeanor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Prior experience with UN/EU/WFP, air‑ambulance, military or police co‑ops is an advantage.

Required skills

• Current type rating on BE20 and B190D aircraft.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Part 135 regulations and Part 121 commercial operations.
• Proficiency in creating, updating, and advising on company policies and operational manuals.
