About the role
Save the Children is recruiting a Nutrition & WASH Purpose Two Lead to oversee the design and implementation of a five‑year USAID‑funded Resilience Food Security Activity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will guide integrated nutrition, WASH and social‑behavior‑change interventions aimed at improving food, nutrition and economic security for vulnerable households.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative SBC formative research together with the MEAL team.
- Lead SBC strategy development, providing technical guidance for participatory design at household and community levels, including interpersonal communication, mass/social media, community mobilisation and advocacy.
- Provide technical guidance on the adaptation, field‑testing and use of state‑of‑the‑art nutrition, WASH and SBC approaches, tools and job aids.
- Train and mentor staff on strategy implementation, tools and job aids.
- Support the design of M&E indicators and evaluation frameworks for nutrition, WASH and SBC components.
- Lead material and activity field‑testing in collaboration with SCUS colleagues.
- Strengthen community‑led advocacy and mobilisation to address nutrition and WASH needs of the poorest.
- Maintain professional relationships with community, public and private sector partners.
- Supervise technical deliverables of consultants, design agencies and media production houses.
- Ensure timely, high‑quality delivery of program outputs and reporting.
- Document approaches, successes and challenges to inform sector‑wide learning.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, or a related social‑science discipline.
- Minimum five years of experience leading nutrition, WASH and SBC programming in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Proven experience designing and managing integrated, multi‑sectoral food and nutrition security interventions.
- Experience working with USAID or similar donor‑funded projects.
- Ability to supervise consultants and coordinate with multiple technical partners.
Required skills
- Social Behavior Change (SBC) methodology and strategy development.
- Qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) expertise.
- Technical knowledge of nutrition and WASH interventions.
- Field testing of program materials and tools.
- Capacity‑strengthening and community mobilisation techniques.
