Physician – Ebola Response Specialist (DRC)

About the role

Iqarus is seeking experienced physicians to join its medical team in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality clinical care in a challenging, resource‑limited environment while supporting Ebola and other viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF) response efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 safe, high‑quality clinical care within the on‑site medical facility.
• Recognise and treat illnesses and minor injuries; stabilise and prepare trauma or acute cases for evacuation.
• Strictly follow infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, isolation procedures, and manage suspected or confirmed Ebola cases.
• Conduct client medical examinations, administer vaccinations, and perform case reviews as required.
• Maintain pharmacy and consumable inventory, ensuring minimum/maximum levels and up‑to‑date controlled drug registers.
• Escalate serious, highly contagious, or complex cases requiring parenteral treatment to the Client Medical Officer and Regional Medical Director.

Required profile

• Medical graduate with a full, valid, unrestricted licence to practice in the country of origin.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a General Practitioner, including postgraduate training in general practice.
• Hands‑on experience in an Ebola response operation.
• Additional postgraduate experience in emergency medicine, pre‑hospital care, or retrieval medicine is essential.
