Protection Caseworker Associate

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Democratic Republic of Congo is seeking a Protection Caseworker Associate to provide safe, dignified post‑arrival assistance to migrants. The role operates under the supervision of the Migrant Protection Officer and Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual protection screenings, identify vulnerabilities and protection risks, and develop individualized case plans.
• Provide case management, follow‑up on cases, coordinate referrals to legal, health, psychosocial, GBV, child protection and other specialized services.
• Maintain accurate case notes and data in IOM’s case management systems, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
• Support communication with beneficiaries, explain assistance options, and ensure informed consent.
• Participate in local protection coordination forums and collaborate with NGOs, UN agencies and government partners.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience.
• Experience in protection case management for survivors of GBV, human trafficking, children at risk, or other vulnerable migrants in humanitarian contexts.
• Fluency in French, English and Spanish (oral and written).

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Experience with case management tools such as MiMOSA.
