Ranch Manager – Large-Scale Cattle Operation

About the role

The Ranch Manager will lead the strategic and operational turnaround of a 20,000‑head cattle enterprise, shifting from extensive grazing to a disciplined paddock‑based system while improving breeding, health, and data‑driven management.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the transition from open‑range grazing to a structured paddock system, including infrastructure and movement units.
• Establish and enforce protocols to meet elite targets for neonatal survival, calving percentages, weaning weights, and body‑condition scores.
• Standardize veterinary and bio‑security procedures, ensuring compliance with vaccination, dipping, and culling schedules.
• Translate field data into executive reports and drive adoption of the Ranching ERP for accurate data collection and analytics.
• Manage ordering, stocking, and distribution of feed, supplements, veterinary medicines, and other inputs.
• Oversee safe and efficient use of the ranch fleet, tractors, trucks, and processing equipment, ensuring high asset uptime.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Livestock Production, Range Management, Agribusiness, or related field.
• 10–15 years progressive experience in large‑scale cattle ranching or commercial livestock operations.
• Proven management of herds exceeding 5,000 head; experience with 20,000+ head operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead system transitions, improve biological performance, and implement data‑driven processes.
