Regional Finance Director – Great Lakes

About the role

As a member of the Global Finance Team and the Regional Leadership Team, the Regional Finance Director will lead the financial infrastructure and systems for country programmes across the Great Lakes region, supporting the organization’s strategic vision and mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial information and strategic analysis to the Regional VP and HQ Finance to support business decisions.
• Contribute to the development and review of country programmes’ strategic annual plans and operating budgets.
• Oversee accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions and ensure robust financial controls.
• Ensure compliance with IRC financial standards, US and local laws, and donor requirements.
• Prepare and review internal financial reports, keeping headquarters and regional offices informed of financial issues.
• Deliver technical guidance to country offices and monitor implementation of new policies and initiatives.
• Maintain visibility on the financial health of country programmes and support corrective actions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in finance and accounting management within a multi‑country or humanitarian context.
• Proven ability to act as a finance business partner to senior leadership.
• Strong knowledge of US and local financial regulations and donor compliance.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing financial controls and reporting systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with regional and country teams, as well as functional departments such as HR, IT and procurement.
