Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator to lead community‑focused communication activities for the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This 12‑month assignment provides strategic technical leadership and operational support to ensure effective risk messaging, rumor management, and community feedback mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for community‑based RCCE activities across affected provinces.
• Support RECOs in delivering two‑way risk communication, rumor tracking, and early‑alert promotion.
• Coordinate with community leaders, health authorities, and partner NGOs to align messaging and engagement strategies.
• Integrate accountability and safeguarding considerations into all RCCE interventions.
• Monitor and report on community feedback, adapting communication approaches as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in risk communication and community engagement within humanitarian or public‑health emergencies.
• Familiarity with Ebola or other infectious disease outbreaks and related prevention measures.
• Ability to work effectively in conflict‑affected, displacement‑heavy environments.
• Strong collaboration skills with government health ministries, NGOs, and local community structures.
