Senior International Accountant – Global Accounting Operations

About the role

PATH is seeking a Senior International Accountant to join its Global Accounting Operations team. The role supports country offices across more than 20 nations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, donor requirements and internal policies while providing high‑level accounting oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality‑control reviews of financial reports and transactions from country offices.
• Coordinate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes with field sites.
• Prepare adjustments, accruals, journal entries and schedules to support the financial close.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations, monitor bank reconciliations and clear reconciling items.
• Provide guidance on accounting policies, internal controls and donor compliance.
• Design, implement and improve internal control systems using flowcharts and documentation.
• Conduct training on financial processes, segregation of duties and cash handling.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit documentation and follow‑up on audit findings.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a global nonprofit environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA qualification.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
• Strong organizational, analytical and customer‑service skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Experience with multi‑currency ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to perform bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Understanding of USAID regulations (e.g., 2 CFR 200) is a plus.
