Senior Protection and Safeguarding Advisor

About the role

World Vision DRC is looking for a Senior Protection and Safeguarding Advisor on a local fixed-term contract. As the national technical lead for Protection and Safeguarding, the role provides strategic leadership, technical oversight and quality assurance for the Protection and Safeguarding portfolio across development and humanitarian programming. It covers the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of interventions that prevent and respond to violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect affecting children and vulnerable populations, while serving as the focal point for Child Protection and Safeguarding across the office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of technical approaches and programmes to address violence against children, integrate child protection into other sectors' work, and adapt the Child Protection and Advocacy Project Model to national and international standards
• Develop contextualised programming guidelines and tools for field teams, and work with resource acquisition staff to strengthen grant proposals for child protection funding
• Ensure meaningful participation of children in programme design, implementation and evaluation, and lead quality monitoring and evaluation tools and guidance with the M&E team
• Oversee Child Protection in Emergencies programming and give technical input to emergency response funding proposals
• Lead safeguarding accountability, including the annual Safeguarding Update Report and action plan, and safeguarding compliance in emergencies
• Build a safeguarding capacity-building and training strategy for staff and partners, and strengthen the investigation capacity of Zonal Safeguarding Leads
• Manage Child and Adult Safeguarding incidents (Level 1-3) according to global protocols, in collaboration with zonal coordinators and the regional office
• Update the national Safeguarding Policy, Safeguarding incident preparedness plans and related implementation tools
