Supply and Logistics Officer – 6‑Month Temporary Assignment

About the role

The Supply and Logistics Officer will support UNICEF’s emergency response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working under the supervision of the Operations Specialist, the officer will ensure that critical supplies reach affected communities safely and on time. This six‑month temporary appointment is based in the Goma field office and requires close collaboration with programme teams and government partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, procure, and contract essential goods and services for the Ebola response.
• Coordinate customs clearance, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Manage in‑country transportation, fleet operations, and last‑mile distribution of time‑critical IPC commodities.
• Monitor safe storage and handling of supplies, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Work with programme teams to define supply interventions that meet child‑focused objectives.
• Provide operational advice and support to government counterparts and implementing partners on logistics matters.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage supply chain operations in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Experience working under the guidance of an Operations Specialist or similar supervisory structure.
• Strong coordination skills to liaise with programme teams, government agencies, and partners.
