Underground Production Superintendent

About the role

The Underground Production Superintendent reports to the Underground Production Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all underground mining production activities. The role ensures safety, production, quality and cost targets are met while complying with health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day underground mine production operations to achieve tonnage, ore quality and productivity targets.
• Implement and monitor HSE policies, identify hazards, track corrective actions and promote a zero‑incident culture.
• Analyse performance indicators, close gaps between objectives and results, and drive cost‑control initiatives.
• Prepare and monitor operational budgets, control expenses and propose financial improvement measures.
• Collaborate with technical services, maintenance, processing plant and support functions to ensure effective planning and execution.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical skills and autonomy.
• Ensure optimal use of equipment, spare parts, consumables and infrastructure for efficient production.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and adopt industry best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground mining production supervision.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to manage budgets, monitor costs and drive financial performance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross‑department collaboration.
• Leadership capability to coach and develop operational teams.
