WASH Manager (P-4) – 6‑Month Temporary Assignment in Bunia

About the role

The WASH/IPC Coordinator will provide technical leadership and operational coordination for UNICEF’s WASH and infection prevention and control response to the Ebola emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, the role oversees rapid implementation of priority interventions for vulnerable communities and health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the rapid rollout of WASH/IPC interventions in affected and at‑risk areas.
• Ensure strong linkages with other response pillars such as risk communication, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.
• Guarantee that UNICEF’s WASH/IPC support is timely, technically sound, well‑coordinated and aligned with national protocols and emergency standards.
• Support planning, monitoring, partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting for WASH/IPC activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH and IPC within humanitarian or emergency health contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in insecure, logistically challenging environments.
• Strong coordination, adaptability and cultural sensitivity to engage diverse communities.
• Experience with Ebola or similar disease outbreak responses is highly desirable.
