Writer & Editor – English (Contract, Remote)

About the role

IMPACT is looking for a skilled Writer and Editor to join a four‑year initiative focused on peace, security, and mineral governance in Africa’s Great Lakes region. Working remotely as an independent contractor, you will turn complex technical research into clear, engaging content for a wide audience.

Key responsibilities

• Produce concise, technically accurate written materials such as briefing papers, research reports, training guides, and public‑facing documents.
• Edit and refine drafts from team members, ensuring clarity, structure, and adherence to IMPACT’s style guide.
• Translate complex technical concepts into creative, jargon‑free content that highlights project impact.
• Support fact‑checking and copy‑editing tasks to maintain brand cohesion across all publications.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional writing or communications experience.
• Experience with international non‑profits or development projects is preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing for diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Strong copy‑editing and proofreading abilities.
• Ability to simplify technical material for non‑technical readers.
• Familiarity with style‑guide compliance and brand consistency.
