Assistant Area Sales Manager

About the role

The Assistant Area Sales Manager will support the Area Sales & Business Development Manager for the Congolese market, driving sales growth and building strong relationships with distributors, retailers and end‑users. This position focuses on achieving sales targets, generating demand for key products, and providing market insights to shape strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve sales targets within the assigned territory by expanding core business and identifying new opportunities.
• Generate demand for key products through targeted user‑marketing activities.
• Manage relationships with importers, wholesale and retail outlets, and potential influencers.
• Collect primary orders on time, maintain commercial hygiene and pricing structures for the country.
• Support leadership in executing below‑the‑line (BTL) objectives for the region.
• Conduct monthly business reviews with local teams, develop action plans with distributors, and maintain a sales and demand‑generation database.
• Provide regular market insights on product usage, competitor activity, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure timely submission of claims with appropriate documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in managerial sales or user‑marketing roles.
• Fluent in Lingala, French and English.
• Background in paints & hardware, adhesives, construction chemicals or building materials preferred.
• Graduate from a recognized university.
