Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager – Procurement (Mining Equipment & Spares)

About the role

This position is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and supply of spare parts, consumables, and services needed for mining operations at a site in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role works closely with the HEMM department to coordinate sourcing, vendor management, logistics, warranty follow‑up and inventory control, keeping critical mining equipment running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors for mining equipment spare parts and consumables.
• Obtain quotations, perform technical and commercial comparisons, and prepare purchase recommendations.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules and commercial terms; raise purchase orders for critical spares.
• Coordinate with the HEMM department to understand spare‑part requirements and support maintenance planning.
• Manage logistics, track shipments, handle customs documentation and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels, monitor stock, and coordinate with stores for verification and reconciliation.
• Track warranty coverage, process warranty claims and coordinate with OEMs for defective‑part replacement.
• Monitor spare‑part consumption, identify cost‑reduction opportunities and develop alternate vendors.
• Maintain procurement documentation and generate periodic reports on procurement status and inventory.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement and supply chain for mining equipment spare parts.
• Strong knowledge of vendor management, logistics coordination and inventory control.
• Ability to work closely with maintenance teams and understand equipment maintenance schedules.
• Experience handling customs documentation and international freight forwarding.
• Analytical mindset for cost control and reporting.
