Assistant Superintendent

About the role

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing all on‑site construction activities. This role ensures projects stay on schedule, meet safety standards, and maintain quality across multiple trades.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate field employees, subcontractors, and material vendors to accelerate the project schedule.
• Provide input to the Superintendent on site issues, conditions, and morale of the crew.
• Maintain daily progress reports, including photos, payroll, equipment time, field reports, and schedule updates.
• Manage permits, inspections, and attend regularly scheduled progress meetings.
• Monitor material waste, quality, and scheduling across all work trades.
• Anticipate and resolve problems that could delay construction.
• Communicate with the project team, trade contractors, clients, designers, and inspectors regarding schedule, safety, cleanliness, and manpower needs.

Required profile

• Ability to read and understand project documents such as drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and contracts.
• Understanding of project scheduling and cost control.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies on plans.
• Management, communication, supervisory, and planning skills.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks, work in all weather conditions, and lift up to 50 lb.
• Required safety certifications and training.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Outlook and Microsoft Word.
• Experience using Adobe Reader/BlueBeam.
• Familiarity with ProCore construction management software.
• Knowledge of Viewpoint Field Work Center.
