Field Service Engineer (Mechanical) – Disc Filters

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support disc filtration equipment on a major mining operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role involves on‑site inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance optimisation of vacuum and ceramic disc filter systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of disc filter systems and related equipment.
• Execute and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor and optimise equipment reliability, availability and performance.
• Support and train operators and maintenance personnel.
• Identify critical spare‑part requirements and track consumption trends.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance recommendations and root‑cause analyses.
• Coordinate with technical specialists and stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with site safety standards and maintenance procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of experience maintaining and commissioning mining filtration or mineral‑processing equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum and mechanical drive systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Disc filtration systems (vacuum and/or ceramic).
• Vacuum systems and associated equipment.
• Pumps, valves and instrumentation.
• Mechanical alignment and lubrication practices.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Maintenance planning and execution (SAP, CMMS or equivalent).
