Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager – Procurement (Mining Equipment & Spares)

About the role

This position is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and supply of spare parts, consumables and services required for mining operations at a remote site in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role works closely with the HEMM department to coordinate sourcing, vendor management, logistics, warranty follow‑up and inventory control, guaranteeing continuous equipment availability.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors for mining equipment spare parts, consumables and maintenance materials.
• Obtain quotations, perform technical and commercial comparisons and prepare purchase recommendations.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Raise purchase orders and ensure timely procurement of critical spares.
• Maintain close coordination with the HEMM department to understand spare‑part requirements and support maintenance planning.
• Coordinate with logistics teams and freight forwarders for international and local shipment, track shipments and handle customs documentation.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels for critical, fast‑moving and insurance spares, and work with stores for stock verification and reconciliation.
• Track warranty coverage, manage warranty claims with OEMs and suppliers, and ensure proper documentation until closure.
• Monitor spare‑part consumption, identify cost‑reduction opportunities and develop alternate vendors.
• Maintain procurement documentation and generate periodic reports on procurement status, inventory levels and spare‑part consumption.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement and supply chain for mining equipment or similar heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong understanding of vendor management, logistics coordination and inventory control.
• Ability to work closely with maintenance teams and understand equipment maintenance schedules.
• Experience handling customs documentation and international freight processes.
