Assistant Controller (Kinshasa, DRC)

About the role

Wave is expanding its financial services across Africa and needs an experienced Assistant Controller to help build a robust finance function in Kinshasa. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate accounting, compliance, and strategic financial support as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Finance unit to external stakeholders, reviewing and monitoring company financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory requirements by interpreting legislation and advising on corrective actions.
• Maintain accounting controls by drafting and recommending policies and procedures.
• Manage the relationship with external auditors and guarantee adherence to accounting standards.
• Oversee the Finance team, including recruitment, training, mentoring, and development.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to align new products with accounting and tax considerations.
• Promote Wave’s values within the team and across the organization.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 8 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or finance.
• Proven experience with financial reporting requirements in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
• Experience managing tax audits.
• Fluent in both French and English.
