Country Director – DRC

About the role

The DRC Country Director leads VillageReach’s strategic, programmatic, operational and administrative work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Programs, the role serves as the primary representative to government, donors, partners and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and periodically review the DRC country strategy and annual operating plans, ensuring alignment with global priorities.
• Oversee program implementation, budgets, work plans and evaluations, adjusting strategies as needed.
• Manage country finances, resources, compliance and risk, ensuring sound stewardship and security.
• Lead business development, drafting concept notes, proposals and budgets for new opportunities.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with government, donors and partners, representing VillageReach in technical groups and forums.
• Lead and develop the country office team, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture and ensuring compliance with local laws and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, International Development or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of senior leadership experience in public health, health systems strengthening or international development, with a proven track record in complex environments.
