Field Agent - Community Mobilization, Lukula

About the role

GiveDirectly, which transfers mobile money directly to poor households in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2018, is recruiting a Field Agent in Lukula, Kongo Central. Reporting to the Associate Field Manager, the agent organizes community meetings and focus groups, takes part in public awareness sessions and helps collect data from eligible households.

Key responsibilities

• Collect accurate data from eligible households through surveys, censuses and follow-up
• Work with colleagues to ensure beneficiary data collection is fair, precise and in line with GiveDirectly requirements
• Communicate the key messages of the organization's awareness campaigns clearly
• Take part in debriefings with the team and the manager
• Engage with the public, local authorities, community representatives and civil society
• Receive and handle complaints and questions from the community fairly

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field
• Professional experience, internships or field work, especially in data collection, is an advantage
• Good time management, strong interpersonal skills, empathy and integrity
• Physical fitness for regular field work, including rural areas
• Ability to communicate respectfully with vulnerable people and to handle complaints professionally
• Positive, solution-oriented attitude and ability to do several tasks at once
• High confidentiality regarding beneficiary information
• Quick learner and diligent in following instructions

Required skills

• Good command of French and Kikongo, Kintandu, Kiyombe, Kimanyanga, Kilemfu, Kindibu and/or other languages spoken in Kongo Central
• MS Word and Excel
• Digital data collection tools such as tablets and smartphones
