Load & Haul Mechanic

About the role

The Load & Haul Mechanic is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of underground loading and transport equipment, ensuring high availability and reliability of loaders, trucks and related machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance plans.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, transmission, braking, steering, cooling and lubrication failures and carry out necessary repairs.
• Respond to urgent equipment breakdowns, conduct functional tests and verify repair conformity.
• Record all interventions, parts used and defects in SAP to ensure traceability.
• Analyse recurring failures and contribute to fleet performance improvement.

Required profile

• State diploma in general or automotive mechanics.
• Minimum five years of experience maintaining underground mobile mining equipment, preferably Caterpillar or Sandvik.
• Strong safety culture, analytical mindset and ability to work in a team.

Required skills

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of underground loaders and trucks.
• Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge.
• Transmission, braking, steering, cooling and lubrication systems.
• Diagnostic techniques using technical manuals and equipment.
• Proficiency with SAP or a computerized maintenance management system.
