Manager - Community Development

About the role
The Manager – Community Development will lead KCC’s sustainable social performance, ensuring that community impacts are managed responsibly and that benefits for host communities are maximised. Reporting to the General Manager of Socio‑Economic Development, the role combines strategy, risk management, grievance handling and project delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a community development strategy and management plan aligned with national legislation, KCC’s business and sustainability objectives.
- Identify, assess and integrate social and human‑rights risks into the company’s overall risk profile, establishing robust control mechanisms.
- Lead the asset‑level grievance management system in line with the United Nations Guiding Principles (UNGP), ensuring transparency and accessibility.
- Conduct internal and external audit and assurance missions, documenting findings according to international standards.
- Design mitigation plans and early‑warning systems based on community feedback.
- Provide accurate, timely reporting to internal stakeholders, regulators, executive management and external partners.
- Plan and execute mandatory and discretionary social development projects (education, health, livelihoods, infrastructure) within scope, schedule and budget.
- Manage consultants and implementation partners, applying security and quality‑control procedures.
- Monitor and report on project results, impact and social return on investment (SROI).
Required profile
- Proven experience in community development, CSR or social performance management, preferably in the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as UNGP, ICMM, ILO conventions and IFC performance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk, grievance mechanisms and audit processes.
- Excellent reporting and stakeholder communication skills.
- Solid project‑management experience, including budgeting and partner coordination.
