Managerial Leader I – Corporate Affairs

About the role

The Kipushi Project is seeking a senior legal professional to lead its Corporate Affairs function. Reporting to senior management, you will advise on legal risks, ensure compliance, and oversee governance, permitting and regulatory matters for the mining operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Key responsibilities

• Define, manage and coordinate a world‑class Corporate Affairs function.
• Implement policies, plans and governance structures aligned with company objectives.
• Drive execution of the Corporate Affairs strategy, setting departmental priorities.
• Develop and embed standards, processes and integrated corporate governance, compliance, integrity and ethics frameworks.
• Oversee permitting activities, ensuring all required licences are obtained and maintained.
• Provide timely permitting advice by understanding business needs across departments.
• Streamline the department and foster collaboration among stakeholders to deliver comprehensive business solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a Bachelor of Law.
• 10+ years of experience in civil and common law, managing a legal function.
• Prior in‑house legal experience; mining sector experience is a strong advantage.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to articulate legislation to diverse audiences.
• Deep knowledge of DRC legislation, permitting and regulatory environments, and sub‑Saharan African legal contexts (excluding South Africa).
