Social Performance Supervisor – ASM

About the role

The Social Performance Supervisor – ASM will lead the operational implementation of the ASM management strategy for the Assafo‑Dibibango Project. This role focuses on prevention, monitoring, constructive engagement with artisanal and small‑scale mining (ASM) actors, economic reconversion support, and ensuring compliance with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an up‑to‑date map of ASM sites, including location, size, equipment, and workforce.
• Document ASM actors, track migration flows, and produce monthly ASM reports on dynamics, incidents, and emerging risks.
• Engage regularly with ASM stakeholders using a trusted‑facilitator approach and record all interactions.
• Coordinate with security teams to ensure VPSHR‑compliant risk assessments, MoUs, training, and independent monitoring.
• Monitor gendarmerie eviction operations from a human‑rights perspective and maintain a confidential register of incidents.
• Co‑design and monitor economic reconversion packages for ASM workers, tracking adhesion and sustainability.
• Facilitate the ASM Monitoring Committee, prepare sessions, minutes, and follow‑up actions.
• Design health‑risk sensitizations on mercury and cyanide, and alert authorities to health incidents.
• Produce weekly and monthly reports, maintain the ASM dashboard and key performance indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement, social performance, or related fields within mining or natural‑resource sectors.
• Strong understanding of ASM dynamics, security‑human‑rights frameworks, and public‑health risks associated with mining.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including local authorities, security forces, and NGOs.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
